The anti cheat lockdown (for games that would otherwise run fine) is not helping the deck……but trying to fit a full blown windows OS on handheld devices in order to be able to play games is not a very comfortable alternative either. I think having a more reasonable and compatible anti cheat system on a very scalable and flexible Linux based OS is a lot more realistic than having Microsoft come up with a scaled down handheld friendly OS that can still run all of the games knowing that it would be cannibalism against it’s own Xbox branch.

I’d buy it in a minute if I could play FC24 on it without installing windows.

You can get FIFA 22 to work and it is great on the deck. But EA started add DRM after that preventing it from working on the Steam Deck.

There’s plenty of competitive games with anti cheat that work fine on the deck.

I mean, you have heard of counterstrike, overwatch and apex legends right?

The decision for other games to not support the steam deck or Linux via proton deliberately is purely a business decision like making an exclusive for say playstation.
