I used the NonSteam Launchers package to install both Epic and GOG onto my Steam Deck in SteamOS. Both launch fine. Where I’ve had trouble is getting games from there added as non-steam games to use controller profiles and save some time launching etc. Boilr is packaged with the script, but it’s the linux version which so far has failed to find all games but one (Celeste in Epic). I just tried adding Witcher 3, which I own in GOG, to Steam - I found wither3.exe in the Games folder of the GOG Galaxy install, but it won’t launch.
I have this impression that launchers like Heroic are crutches and that I should have abetter experience with cloud saves, etc with the actual launchers. But is there any actual basis to that? Do you think I should just uninstall the launchers and install Heroic instead?
Thank you!
In BoilR you need to use MiniGalaxy option, and point it to GOG Galaxy Games directory, it’ll find most of your GOG games (not all unfortunately, and I don’t really know why, for example it can’t find FlatOut 2 or Worms Forts). All you have to do after that is setting compatdata path in launch options in Steam, that’s not entirely needed but it’s necessary for cloud saves to work properly
I tried that, I guess I just happen to have installed all games that don’t show up… still good to know it might work if I try other games. Thank you.
