After a long thought and asking some questions in this and another subreddit about smartphones I eventually decided to get the Fairphone 5 this week. Currently using it for about 2 days and I’m content with the choise. I’m still adjusting to the bulky size and weight (coming from a Huawei P10). But considering there practically aren’t any compact modern smartphones anymore, I’ll have to deal with that. Anyway, before I’m rambling on too long:

I’ve ordered two screen protectors for it, both didn’t fit. One from Aiziki/Amazon, the other from Rosso/GSMpunt.nl. Both are too short in length and width, leaving more than half a centimeter of screen unprotected. And the largest of the two (Aiziki) has a too small diameter on the rounded edges, so it actually doesn’t fit between the larger diameter rounded edges of the Fairphone 5. Meaning there’s at least one edge where it doesn’t stick properly to the screen.

I’m reluctant to spend around €30 for a screenprotector from Fairphone themselves. It’s a sacrificial part after all, don’t want to be paying that much if I drop my phone once and need to replace it. Are there any alternatives that actually do fit?

All other brands on Amazon for example don’t have a review or have at least one bad review saying they don’t fit.

Unfortunately most brands on Amazon have bad reviews for not fitting correctly on the FP5. And one of the two I ordered myself was from Amazon and wasn’t fitting correctly either.

But I’ll check that brand out

maybe I am just not super strict about those things. There is indeed a 1 mm gap between the screen protector and the bezel, but for me it is good enough.

I also have a clear TPU cover around the phone, I reckon it is very unlikely it will get damaged or scratched
