How come sometimes I dont get notification on my apple watch SE when someone text me with I message. How to correct this?

    I am not on phone. Sometimes the phone will notify me Iphone 13 . Sometimes the watch will vibrate or ping. Sometimes both watch or phone wont notify. Not sure if there is a quick check I can do for this problem
