So, do people think the deckhd upgrade is still worth it after the announcement of the OLED version?

I just bought my 64gb back in the end of September, and immediately upgraded the SSD to 1tb. So I have no plans of buying the new model.

But it’s got me thinking that maybe the DeckHD would be worth going for, also because I’d like to do a shell swap.

Thoughts? Also wonder if there’s a chance of a DeckHD sale for black Friday or because of the new OLED model

I have a DeckHD screen that’s supposed to be arriving today. I was planning to return it since I’m planning to go OLED instead. If interested, we can make a deal. There’s a restocking fee for returning and I’d rather pass the value onto someone who’s going to use the screen vs giving it back to DeckHD.

In my opinion (will place an order soon), it’s worth it for the following reasons:

    • Better resolution/image quality from streamed games. This would bring the SD on par with the resolution of the PS Portal (if streaming PS5 using chiaki)

    • Older titles will be playable at higher resolution running the game at 40-45fps (still smooth framerate to me). I’ve replicated a scenario running GTA 4 on a monitor running at 1920x1200p resolution using the SD on battery power & it still ran really good.

    • Better colors

Again, this is my take on it and I don’t intend to convince anyone :)

I installed mine last Friday. I’ve. been happy with it so far; but I’m probably not the average user. I use my deck for mostly ps5 remote play and retro games via EmuDeck. I also usually only play for a hour to two at a time so any batter loss I would not notice.
