I went on a three hour hike today using WOD. I was surprised when I finished the hike to see that I only had 27% battery remaining, having started around 90%.

The watch itself has excellent battery performance, so I was wondering what caused the big battery drain?

I am on the latest 10.1 WatchOS and I had downloaded my WOD map to the watch due to no signal in the hiking area (presumably this would be a net positive for battery consumption?)

Interested to hear from other users who hike/take long runs using this app.

WorkOutDoors worked great on my Ultra 2. But now that I updated to 10.1, my watch only last 3.5hrs without any apps running. Im still going back and forth with Apple.

Did they ask you to go into the diagnostic logs from the phone and look for 10.1 build 21s67 bug_type 298?

According to another poster, Apple sent out a memo around 1:30 pm Eastern today about the issue, they are working on a patch, no ETA. (Seems some people were fed the beta instead of the correct update. This is the same battery bug the beta testers discovered in 10.1 beta two.)

I haven’t heard any other reports of massive battery drain using WorkOutDoors recently but, as others have pointed out, some people are seeing problems since updating to watchOS 10.1

This is quite common with new releases of watchOS and often improves after a few days, when it has finished doing whatever processing it needs to do after the update.
