Hi guys.

Do you guys also get wrong sleep data from the Apple Watch?

In my case I sometimes charge the watch before bed (let’s say around 22:30), and my schedule is set for go to sleep from 23:00 till 7:30, I go to bed let’s say at 00:30, and wake up at 08:00 (even tho the alarm sound and I turn it off), then the sleep data says that I:

  • Have been in bed since 22:30
  • Have sleep from 23:00 to 07:30
  • Have been up and not sleeping after 07:30

How can I fix this, so the watch registers the correct hours of “be in bed” and be asleep?

PD: my watch is the series 8 and I’m using watchOS 10.1.1

Thanks!

Apple simply did not account for the possibility that you might be sleeping outside of the schedule you set. It’s neither a bug nor a joke, it’s just defect by design.

So you have two options: One is to set a huge sleep window which will cover early/late sleep as well (but the dummy time will probably mess up the data collection in other ways). The other option is to use an actual sleep tracker app that, well, just tracks your sleep without focus nonsense or schedules set in stone. At least as long as Apple needs to start from scratch and provide something like that natively, which they aren’t able or willing to at the moment.
