Do you think it would be worth the wait and price to hold out until the 14th Intel laptops are released? I’m mainly interested in them as they will allegedly have a much better battery life, but I was also looking to get some good deals on black friday sales and it’d be a lot easier switching right now. Any thoughts?

Supposedly, Intel i5 gen 13 i5u is much more energy efficient the the prior i5 and i7 versions. I just someone post a list of chip benchmarks. It seems that the i5 version 13 budget laptops are just starting to roll out. So, I don’t know about real world testing with streaming youtube and Ms Office work.
They’re also allegedly going to be a lot more expensive.
yes exactly as we saw in first several months release of Intel 13th gen laptops in comparison to the 12th gen.
may be 3mo-6mo before intel 14th gen laptops come down with sale prices.
Summer-2024 should be enough time for market to catch up and Intel 13th gen processor laptops are heavily discounted like what we are seeing with Intel gen-12
I can’t wait for 14th gen Intel laptops to cook themselves to death.
It’s tough man, there’s very rarely an ideal time to buy any laptop because sales are frequently used to flush out old inventory and the next gen is always around the corner at a higher price. Every year. Rinse, repeat.
Yes wait for them to drop and then buy a 13th gen laptop at a low price
Honestly the only reason I would wait is because 13th gen will get cheaper 😂
My personal opinion is the only reason to wait for a new generation of any CPU to come out as if there is going to be a a big improvement between generations
14th Gen Raptor Lake is a refresh, not a complete new architecture so the performance difference is marginal. So no, I wouldn’t wait. If you can score a BF/CB deal on a 13th gen, I’d say pull the trigger.
Also 14th Gen just came out so it’s just now starting to trickle into the mass market in the next few weeks and going into 2024 (not enough time to show up for BF/CB).
Since you mentioned battery life, you’ll want to look for a laptop with a “U” designation as these chips are designed to sip power for max battery life (example).
