I just updated SteamOS and now the deck won’t boot, just redirects me to this screen but neither the buttons or the touchscreen work. Did Valve seriously brick the thing with this update??

It’s far from bricked, don’t worry. It’s an inconvenience, but your boot section broken for some unknown (or maybe know) reason. Just reflash it and call a day. Boot sectors can be rescued with right tools, maybe worth a try. Try to look for arch linux boot recovery or steam os boot recovery. A tutorial should pop off. This is very common issue in Linux world. Also, you can plug an USB c keyboard and check if the previous options work. But reinstall os is the quickest fix.
