I bought my S23 Ultra in May. The battery life was really good at first. I was able to get really good SOT, like around 8-9 hours on one charge.
Now the battery lasts a lot less than it did before. I now tend to only get 3-5 hours of SOT versus the 6-9 hours when I got the phone a few months ago.
I use social media apps like Twitter/X, Snapchat, YouTube, Discord, and some brief FB Lite and Instagram usage. I also use Relay for Reddit and Samsung Internet.
From what I heard, this kind of battery life drop seems normal for Samsung flagships after a few months.
I’m not sure if One Ui 6 has a solution for this, but I’m surprised at how bad the battery life has turned after only six months. My iPhone 13 Pro didn’t face that problem, and it had a much smaller battery size.
Is factory resetting the best idea in the meantime? I have Spectrum Mobile and they haven’t released One Ui 6 yet.
No, it’s not normal for battery life to drop after a few months. It’s never normal on any modern smartphone. Idk where you would have heard something like that and why you would believe it.
There is undoubtedly another issue that’s causing your battery life to fall dramatically, but it’s very difficult to diagnose the issue over the Internet. It could be a strange app you downloaded that’s doing shady things in the background, a virus, an update gone wrong somewhere, faulty battery, the list is endless.
Resetting could help as it gives the phone a chance to start from scratch. But depending on the root cause, it may also do nothing.
