Hello everyone.

My mom asked me to search a new phone for her. She wanted a decentish camera and a good mic. I also know she is not a techgeek (hence why i am searching for her) so the support from fairphone waked my interest. So before i recommend her the phone what do you guys think of it

The Fairphone 5 is good. If you want to further improve the usability for people which aren’t so tech savy, you can look into different Android Launchers, which make it possible to completely change the experience you use your device. Huge app icons? No problem. Everything very simple and minimalistic? Here you go.

I’m very impressed with the camera.

I’m not a photographer or anything, but I can frame a shot, I can tell good picture from a bad one.

I also know that Fairphone isn’t targeting the photo-obsessed people. So I expected the FP5 cam to be decent at best.

But instead, I find it difficult to take a bad picture. Hell, the camera sees better than my eyes. With the lights off, and only the display of my laptop and the street lighting from outside entering the window, I get color picture of my living room. With the red carpet on the floor, the pink poster on the wall, the green painting on the other wall. Amazing. I’m sure Apple and Samsung can do better, but still. Amazing.

I think it is a good choice, but check out the size of the phone, if your mother is switching from sth like a 4.5 inch phone, this phone is biiig. I have very small hands and can operate it, but it can be annoying using it one hand

Im only an fp4 user but the bugs in the os cant be pretty annoying to non power users. I told my partner to not get one. But for power users it is a pretty nice phone
