I must be the only one here that doesn’t like the SD touchpads as they are usually prised but I can’t get used to them. They feel sooo clumsy to me, I wish they were just ordinary laptop trackpads to be honest, they seem much more precise.

I do wonder, I am alone on this? I am really hoping the OLED has better feeling on them.

I think they’re great, especially when using it with gyro for shooters, using a touch menu for selecting weapons or items in games, using mouse region for cursor-based games, or even just pc navigation, I just really like them.

I will say, not liking to use the right stick, and having a history with mobile shooters made it so that using a trackpad clicked with me near instantly.

Op, I have the Steam Controller and I believe the technology might be the same. As others may have said, I would suggest you to tinker a while with it’s settings. I’ve done it here and it makes me enjoy it much more.

I have them disabled because I never use them. I’ll probably wait for the next iteration of SD and hope the touch pads are removed or an optional feature. I really dislike how cramped everything feels with them there. Seems like a strange thing to add when touchpads are not the standard on controllers or required to play any game.

I know on Reddit a lot of people use them and I’m glad they can enjoy them, but they only seem useful in a RTS or maybe FPS.

They add a lot of functionality to any game that can make use of PC specific hotkeys because you can set them up as radial touch menus.

For instance in an RPG you could bind M for map, I for inventory, Numbers 1-6 as quick slots for spells/items/weapons etc. Fair enough if none of the games you play would benefit but they’re more versatile than you might think.
