Hi! I’m looking to add some RAM for my laptop, another 16GB stick. Its gonna cost a bit so I’m thinking about it as investment as in I can put that into a new laptop should i get one in the future. However I’m starting to notice how prominent DDR5 has become in new laptop options. Do companies still offer DDR4 as a choice for new models? How long do you guys think until DDR4 is completely phased out? I’ll probably use my laptop for another couple years (Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3, Ryzen 5 5600H, 8GB RAM with only 5.86 usable and a GTX1650) so if DDR4 is getting too obsolete in the long run i might as well just consider a 4GB stick upgrade or sth

You can still buy old stock factory new DDR2 memory with warranty, and I think new DDR3 modules are occasionally being made.

I wouldn’t worry about future availability of parts, DDR4 is going to be around for long time.
