Im planning on buying a ASUS ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi (‎90MB1E00-M0EAY0) along with a 14th gen cpu and while I know the mobo chipset is compatible with the CPU, Im unsure as to wether I would be able to use the CPU with the mobo out of the box or if it would require a BIOS update (which would require to have a compatible CPU at least for the first time to boot and update with) .

I sadly cant afford another CPU or have one borrowed solely to update BIOS for a single time.

Official ASUS site for this mobo seems to say its compatible with 14th gen CPUs, but I dont know if that means compatible as in out of the box compatible or wether it needs a BIOS update.

Thanks!

Check on your mobo support page what version has the micro code update that enables being able to identify 14th Gen. This way you can tell before getting the board instead of trial and error like other comments
