Hey! I recently bought the iPhone 15pro and when I use the „focus“ in the camera App by tapping with my finger on the screen a „f“ appears in the corner. I can activate it, but I can’t find out what for. It looks like the sign for „camera aperture“ (I don’t know if this is the right word, it’s „Blende“ in German). What does it do? I didn’t find anything on the apple help pages.
- focal
- F stop (It is a camera suture measuring unit )
- faperture
- “”
- Aperture.
- You can pay respect with it
- “fake” aperture setting. it adds blur artificially after the photo has been taken to mimic the aperture thats been chosen since this has a fixed aperture
- Can’t believe no one said „f” around and find out. - Because that’s lame af
- Yes that’s just what Reddit needs, more terrible dad jokes and lame puns in a thread where someone’s asking an actual question lol

- As people said… aperture. F stop. Lower number = more blur (portrait) Higher number = less blur (landscape)
- It’s camera aperture. Smaller numbers mean a larger aperture that lets in more light, bigger numbers mean the aperture is smaller and lets in less light - The iPhone doesn’t have an adjustable aperture. There is no change to the amount of light being let in.

- Think of it as the control of background blur (bokeh). The smaller the number, the higher the blur. Play around with it to see the effect. Personally I like higher f-stops (less blur)–it looks more natural.
- it means FIGHTING GOLD
- i love how most don’t realize phones have fixed apertures lol. anywho the f means it’s saving the depth info so that you can apply the portrait effect after taking the pic
- do you know where this is? It looks amazing - Sure. It’s in Hurghada. Egypt.

- That’s the “I can’t take photos” button. Apple makes you admit your inadequacies by putting an F in the chat before taking over and taking the photo for you. /s
