IMO toggling rotation is something I do way more often than changing the silent mode. This is honestly such a good one it should be one of the basic functions, no shortcut.

I have my action button set to toggle lock when I’m holding my phone horizontally. If I’m holding it vertically it will open my camera. I love it

I just set it to command Google Home to shut off all my lights, close the blinds and arm my security system… something I can just press as I’m walking toward the door. I finally get this button.

My first iPad had a switch on the side that did this. I missed it when I got a new one a few years later.

i feel like the mute select switch could’ve been used for other toggles, it’s just not as “innovative” as the “action button”. some examples of clean integration would’ve been mute/unmute, rotation lock (as stated) even the flashlight. i.e, things that are able to be toggled on or off. why does apple have to be so limited. i guarantee we will finally be able to change those lock screen buttons on ios 18 beta 1

I’ve tried so many buttons but realized I used the silencer the most. Honestly never feel the need to lock rotation on my iPhone.
