It was a worse mess this time, two things I noticed

    a) Credit card ordering worked better than trying to pay over Paypal, paypal seemed to have blocked steam due to too many transactions

    b) The devices ran out of stock but 5 minutes later were in stock again

One possible explanation for b was, that scaler scripts tried to get tons of steam decks on single accounts (which was possible but then cleared out)

and a clearing script basically removed those devices again from those accounts and put them back into the queue.

I know one guy who had two different devices in his account and then got cleared automatically to the last device bought.

Either way after having resolved the initial rush even the special edition seemed to have been in stock well enough, this basically means scalpers might need good luck to even recoup their costs, not that i mind, I just need find some artificial tears!

Either way the whole thing was a mess and lots of people got pretty nervous because they thought that scalpers were gobbling everything up and they might have to wait for a year to get theirs!

I was also pretty nervous because of that reason because I had my SD from minute zero in my shopping cart, but could not check out and then when I finally got through the payment it said it was already out of stock. Glad that I retried!
