As the title says. I was watching a review from a guy on you tube earlier today who said (and demonstrated) that with the anti glare screen it nullifies and dulls the OLED screen and recommends putting a protective screen on it to make it pop again

Anyone read anything about this?

I’ve heard this too. Doesn’t really make sense to me. You’re just putting something glossy over something that is matte. They don’t magically cancel each other out.

I probably would’ve ordered the LE if they offered it with a glossy display. I’m sure the antiglare etched display still looks great, but I don’t want anything interfering with the beauty that is OLED. 512 for me.

I did see Dave2D say to put a screen protector on, but I probably won’t. I’m doubtful the difference will be huge. If Valve decided to put it on their flagship model, it’s probably fine.

All the review units seemed to be the 1tb etched anti glare which to me stressed how confident valve was with how they turned out. Usually reviewers tend to get the cheapest model, I’m not gonna mess with my LE I bought because from the several videos I’ve watched it looks killer 👍🏻

It’s a generally true statement about OLED, they show off their contrast best with a glossy screen. You see the same thing in PC monitors recently where the same panel is going into matte and gloss displays from different companies. Some people still prefer a matte finish and that’s fine too of course.

I do love the etched screen on my LCD Deck and would have gone with the 512 GB OLED for the glossy if I hadn’t gotten the “limited” edition one. Surprisingly I only saw one video that mentioned this.
