I had one of the first Steam Decks and it had two persistent issues that were bothersome, but not to the point of requiring an RMA (left stick occasionally had the cap sense wire in the wrong spot, causing friction and the wifi performance was spotty). If I had one of the latter models without these issues, I wouldn’t have upgraded. There’s nothing wrong with the LCD version, it’s still a great device.

The only feature that makes me want the OLED is the improved bluetooth module. According to a model difference breakdown, you can wake the OLED with a controller, which is a huge deal for docked use.

Then… Wouldn’t you be better off playing the emulated games on your pc?

I’m mostly playing it on my way to work/school and in the evening in my bed so it made sense to return my SteamDeck LCD and buy the OLED instead.

They fixed my only two critic points with the SteamDeck: the horrible screen and only Ok-ish battery life.

Man as someone who has had to teach myself to be frugal I respect it. It’s been hard for me not to order the limited edition deck but I really don’t need it and really need to upgrade my pc instead but that itch to buy it is a pain to ignore lol. Keep on keeping on OP.
