Have been playing Elden Ring a lot on the Deck and it was a pretty great experience already, mostly 30fps but some bad stuttering and frame drops in certain areas of the map on high but still very playable.

The game feels waaaay smoother now and the few drops I experienced were extremely minor. Super ACTUAL rock solid 30fps. I even got stable 40fps in a dungeon.

In addition, because of the SMT fix, the annoying frame pacing issues on GameCube and Wii games is now completely gone. Mario kart Wii was especially bad, now 100% perfect from what I can tell.

Post the improvements you’ve noticed!

Yeah. Been playing tales of arise and it amazes me how the framepacing has improved a lot.

Nice, I might need to try that again…

I originally was really excited to play Arise (along with all the other Tales games on Steam Deck), but bad framepacing stands out way too much for me to enjoy.

What fps and graphical settings are you getting now? Getting my deck in a few weeks and this is the first game I want to play

Been playing the past day. I capped framerate to 30 and it’s been stable trekking towards moonrise. Dips to 25 when I zoom in closer but still better than before 3.5.5! I think both patch 4’s fsr2 and 3.5.5 made it look and feel better! Plus the colours look so much better now compared to vibrant deck! I tp’ed to the myconid colony and blighted village and even the ground’s color looks so much better!! Wish I had these quality of life stuff when I started my campaign!

BG3 runs fairly good, I’ve been playing it for over 70 hrs, act 3 now. I’ve actually played it docked at 900p with FSR 2 and it looks amazing.

I’m hoping there’s some noticeable improvement, especially in act 3. The last big patch for BG3 helped performance but it could always be better.

I remember that I played Elden Ring at steady 40fps like 5 months ago with CryoUtilities and low settings at stock resolution.

I was expecting with this 3.5 version will give me that without CryoUtilities…

I just ran Metal Gear Solid V after the 3.5 update to test it out. Not only was there a performance boost, but the battery life also seems to be improved as well.

I found MGSV ran really well before but ya battery life was not the best. I have been running the preview channel for a couple months and the improvement in the battery life feels the most significant to me.

With multiple mentioning of Cryo, I’m surprised that one crazy dude hasn’t showed up yet.

I’m getting an average of 60fps in Elder Scrolls Online with medium to high settings. The updated color is wonderful as well.

I wanted to try ESO on Linux / SD, but was worried I might get banned in an MMO. Do they officially support Linux?

Basically, with the 3.5 update, the system will change the path for any newly formatted SD cards (I believe it’s something like that). However, there is still compatibility with the old path. I updated this morning and ran Super Mario Odyssey off of my SD card and it worked fine without me having to do anything.

In my case, the “performance boost” was so remarkable that it destroyed the whole system. Like being stuck at 87% for hours, and then deciding to commit suicide on the next restart. Yep, 3.5.5 is the worst update ever. All my data is gone. It completely destroyed the system, so not even the SteamOS backup entries worked for me.

Mine was stuck at 87% too! Keep restarting and trying again and eventually it just worked somehow.
