I keep reading that the switch to USB on iphone is great because now we can carry around just one charger.

Is this really the case for most people? My MacBook is USB C, but other than that and my Nintendo Switch I don’t think I own anything that uses USB C - at least not stuff I would consider daily carry.

Airpods pro - lightning/wireless Ipad - lightning Apple watch - proprietary charger

Don’t get me wrong, I like the switch to USB, but for me it means one more cable.

    Yea pretty much. Right down to my tooth brush 🤣

    Thankfully with apple now switching i don’t need to worry about ever missing out on charging (Indian user so plenty of usb-c cables always around me)

    I’ve never used a lightning connector. I don’t have one in my house, someone came with an iPhone 12 and we had to use a qi charger.

    15pm is my first iPhone.

    Yes I’m 100% USB-C except my work provided 14 Pro Max which is really annoying. I travel for work and laptops have been USB-C powered for a while, and Bose, Sony, Samsung etc all moved over to it about 3 years ago. It really helps to be able to take 2 chargers for everything (and my Laptop charger is my fast charger for everything!).

    It’s a great connector, fast, flexible and now a mature system. Obviously Apple grasped onto lightning connector for as long as possible to milk all the last profits they can out of it. They knew USB-C was better, that’s why they went that way on the iPad and MacBook Pro’s, but it took the EU to force them to do a good move for their customers on iphones. That stinks if you ask me

    No. I have a Beats Solo 3 pro 2017 that still works perfectly but it is Mini-USB. My AirPods case and wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse are also still on lightning, and I also have some stuff that are still on the ancient USB-A (they are working perfectly, no reason to change them just because of the port), so yea, it will take some time before I can make the full switch.

    Yes, everything I own is USBC now that I have an iPhone 15 except for my AirPods. I don’t have to carry a charger with me anymore to work or other sites because pretty much everything is on USBC now.

    It’s honestly been worth the upgrade for that alone.

      Sort of, yeah. Obviously there’s a bunch of stuff in my house using other chargers than lightning, but as for the things I take with my when I leave the house lightning is the main thing.

    Aside from my Airpods Max, now all my devices are USB C. iPhone, iPad, Fold 4, Switch, Kindle, Sony mirrorless, and my drone. I can also easily use my external SSD with my iPhone now to transfer photos or data. So it’s a big deal for me. :)

    iPad, Macbook, even my wireless game controller - all USBC. Apple TV remote still Lightning (it’s only a year old and works perfect, no reason to replace it with USBC one). Few things I have still have micro USB (vape battery, some battery driven lamps, camera charger). But now I only need one cable at my desk to charge 3 devices, which is cool. I can use my Macbook charger for all of them.
    the other advantages of USB C on iPhone are also obvious and long awaited.

    For people new to Apple’s ecosystem, USB C is nice.

    For those of us who have been in Apple’s ecosystem for a while, USB C doesn’t do much except accelerate our upgrade spending. We still have a metric buttload of lightning-based devices, and USB C changes nothing in that regard. We still have to use lightning cables unless we want to pointlessly spend $$$$$ replacing perfectly working lightning-based devices with USB C ones (trackpads, airpods, mice, etc.). While we would have had to replace our multiport chargers eventually, we had to replace some sooner (have you seen the prices for quality 4-port USB C chargers???). It would have been nice to have done this in a couple of years when these chargers would have been around for a while and be cheaper.

    (Basically, we’ve had to spend a few hundred dollars on new chargers and cables sooner rather than later.)
