To clarify, I will be installing Windows on either device so I can use Game Pass, Epic, and many other applications. I am very familiar with Windows and I’m pretty tech savvy so that isn’t an issue.

Hey guys, I’ve been looking to get a Steam Deck for a while now and was just waiting on a new model. After looking around, I found an Ally on sale, ending up being $450, which is $100 cheaper than the base model OLED SD.

The Ally seems better in almost every regard, only coming up short with appearance, battery, and a few small things such as touchpads.

I love the look of the SD and do not like the Ally, but the Ally also runs games way better from what I can tell. I can get a skin for the Ally too.

I plan to be playing pretty much everything. Trying out AAA titles, playing indie games, 2D games, retro games, and emulating pretty much anything I can get to work. I do have a PC as well as a Switch and a PS5.

Any opinions on what I should do? The Ally is cheaper and seems nicer, I just don’t like the look and the battery doesn’t seem great at all. The SD seems perfect, just with worse performance.

Thank you for reading!

Either way the Ally you’re looking at isn’t the one you want you’re looking at the standard that’s on sale for around $450 and the more common and one used for benchmarks and comparison to the Deck is the Extreme one that’s generally about $620 on sale
