So i was trying to sign into one of my apps on my phone, and i kept inputting a pin wrong. Eventually i cancelled, and when i did, i got a notification on my iphone telling me that all of my accounts that had reused passwords were in a data leak. I dont know if this was because of the pin issue or if they actually were compromised.
Any insight would be great, because last time this happened was when i was recovering from a computer virus and thought it was still in my hard drive, but now i think it might have just been the pin problem. I reset all my passwords anyway just in case.
Did you reuse the same password across multiple different websites? If so, that would be why. If just one of those websites suffers a data breach, iCloud Keychain will automatically mark all other accounts sharing the same password as potentially compromised.
This is because when criminals obtain account login details from one site they will try their luck and check the same password on other websites.
They were across different websites, or apps in this case. It was just strange because i got the errors at the same time directly after inputting the wrong pin. I think I was inputting the pin on one of my authenticator apps too
