What device is the SteamDeck writing to? My OLED’s 512GB NVMe can take all my gigabit internet can handle when on docked gigabit ethernet, but when writing to microSD it’s painfully slow. I imagine there’s plenty of in-between if you have a low-end/low-capacity NVMe drive, or you’re on an eMMC model.

Nearly identical hardware (if not identical) and rated performance, apart from the SN770 having a higher endurance guarantee, but that’s typical because the SN770 is basically the retail version and the SN740 is the OEM version of practically the same design.

Same here: disappointing that there are no great deals on 2TB 2230 drives. I’m going to use 1 or more 1TB μSD cards while I wait for >2TB capacity 2230 M.2 NVMe drives to drop.

I’ll add for #2: if you need an additional charger, get any USB-C Power Delivery charger that can output 45 watts (or more–the Deck will only pull what it needs) and make sure you’re using a USB-C cable that supports that wattage; unfortunately not all cables can charge at high or even medium wattages.

If you go to Steam Store > Categories > Great on Deck > Visuals & Viewpoint > HDR Supported, you get a list of 8 games (scroll down) that doesn’t include lots of obvious ones like Horizon Zero Dawn, so that’s useless.

Someone in another thread linked this list, which isn’t Steam Deck specific, but if you look to the ones showing support for Linux (Tux penguin icon) then it’s probably a start anyway.

Sounds feasible. Maybe the Windows drivers are better optimized in some way (utilizes more channels at once or something?).

If you want to saturate a 1Gbps internet connection to the Steam Deck without all the WiFi hassle, pick up a decent USB-C hub with PD and gigabit ethernet, like this one: I’m using one and it’s great for downloading from Steam (or my desktop’s Steam library) via ethernet to my NVME . Going cheap on ebay here. It doesn’t have the DP or third USB-A port of the official dock, but the 2 ports it does have are 10 Gbps.
