  • That was me with the summer sale - as thats when I got my Deck. I’m not upgrading to OLED as I can’t justify it having bought my Deck about 6 months ago. Thus, I’m now on the hunt for games that work well with my deck and the Hitman Go fits that exactly. I already had the Tomb Raider one and love it for when I need a 10-15 min distraction that I can put down at a moments notice. I’m almost done it though so really happy to get the Hitman version.

I’m really enjoying Boti so far (its the only one of what I bought I’ve played yet). Its the type of platformer like Spyro and Super Luckys Tale which are my two favorites so I’m really glad I got it!

  • I got one new one (Boti Byteland Overclocked) and a couple of older titles (Hitman Go, Entropy Center, Lost Horizon and a couple of Artifex Mundi games). There were a couple of others on my high priority list but checking SteamDB showed that they were not on their best sale. Thus, I used about 65% of what I had saved for games for the fall sale.

I still have a significant backlog and the only one of the new ones I’ve played so far is Boti Byteland so I’m good to wait for the Winter sale. However, if what I want isn’t on sale or isn’t on a good sale I’ll just keep waiting. Seeing as I’ve only played roughly half of the games I already have I’m attempting not to increase my backlog too much.

  • So I tried to keep my buying fairly limited precisely because I already have a backlog and didn’t need to grow it anymore. That said, I bought:

    • Boti Btyeland Overclocked > Already started playing it and so far I love it. Its exactly the type of platformer I love to relax with the most. Its scratching an itch I’ve been struggling to fill since I finished the Spyro trilogy.
    • The Entropy Center
    • Hitman Go > It was FINALLY on sale! Love the Tomb Raider version for 10 minute gaming sessions to fill time on my Deck so got this one to continue that.
    • Lost Horizon > cheesy point and click adventure that was crazy cheap? Yes please!
    • 4 more Artifex Mundi games (Myth Seekers 1/2, Lost Grimoire 3 and Chronicles of Magic) > Seriously addicted to these at this point. They’re a nice puzzle/Hidden Object/visual novel/wide down at the end of the day.
    • Alex Hunter: Lord of the Mind > this looks like its the same idea of the Artifex Mundi games so I wanted to try a different publisher.

Which when I list it like this doesn’t seem them limited in buying! Compared to what I was looking at originally it is though. There are a couple of games I’m already eyeing for the winter sale, but a lot will depend on what I play between now and then and what my backlog looks like.

  • I have both a PC and a Steam Deck. What I’ve found is that its the type of game that determines where I play it. If its a mouse based game (as there are some I have that are point and click or otherwise need a mouse) than I’m on the PC. If not? I’m on the Deck. The smaller screen (compared to my PC) really isn’t an issue as the screen is plenty big enough. Plus, I find that on Deck I’m less likely to get distracted whereas on the computer I’m more likely to do fifty other things before I even open the game and then most of my time to play is gone.

Add in the fact that if you don’t have a Deck yet that the new OLED deck just got enounced. Its means a TON of people are selling their original Decks much cheaper. So you have a choice between that and getting a new OLED deck if you want one.
