Not sure how things are in the UK but in the US it’s commonly known that lazy/bad delivery drivers will mark packages as “delivery attempted” because they are behind schedule, don’t feel like lifting heavy boxes, etc. without actually attempting to deliver.
You can try calling and say that you have been home, have security cameras all over, and are worried the driver has stolen your package. Some folks have said the package magically shows up a few hours later. At the very least you can start a paper trail of complaints.
