  • I’m not sure valve would let you do that. My best guess is they would just replace the whole unit. Its always worth asking though. I just hope my words let people know not to live in fear of dead pixels because most people probably own a device with a dead pixel. Its just probably at the edge of the screen and therefore unnoticeable. Also some dead pixel’s aren’t truly dead, they are just stuck pixels and may work themselves out (I’ve had stuck pixels work themselves out, sometimes years after the fact).

  • No dead pixels on mine. I got the LE so I have a BOE Panel. Caution to everyone. Dead pixels are inevitable especially at the edges of screens. Some are allowed by the standard. However, this does not mean that the number of dead pixels is higher than expected. Most people who buy the LE are probably enthusiasts and know to look for dead pixels. Additionally the enthusiasts are the people most likely to find these threads and post in them and ask questions. Just because there are dead pixels does not mean they are occurring with greater frequency.

My recommendation is to keep it of the dead pixel is at the edge or it only a dead subpixel chances are good your RMA may give you one with other issues (defect rate for devices is ~2%). If it’s in the center or more than one, then RMA it and pray. Valve has a pretty solid RMA process.
