Honestly because I was a teenager who had a job and just wanted to blow money lol. That’s the best excuse I have. But since the XS I only upgraded every 2-3 years.

As long you don’t go near water it won’t really hurt anything. But I’d either get it replaced or at the very least put a case over it to avoid getting glass in your hands and minimize dust getting inside the phone. Or do what I and lots of my friends did back the old days and put clear tape over it.
