Yea the way I got it fixed was by installing Linux mint and that overrides all the partitions on the drive and then using the steamOS recovery image which then deletes and overrides Linux mint.
I have LCD version
TLDR install a different OS then Install steamOS
There may be a better way just this way worked for me

My guess for this reason is that something changes in hardware, a update to the software or a change in the bios and steamOS just doesn’t like that
