As a father of 2 I went through the same kind of period just that I wanted to but was never able to play games cause it felt like so much effort to go to my office, boot pc, and then not be able to play cause my game always seemed to need an update or something else got in the way. I find after steam deck I am able to hop on for even just half hour and play some games, suspend and play them later. Quality of life for me so significantly improved I am actually upgrading from 512 lcd to 512 Oled because it is an essential in my life now!
