I do enjoy using Emulation Station’s screensaver feature as a kind of retro game roulette wheel for larger rom sets though. Makes it incredibly easy to just press A when you see a game that looks interesting and gets rid of decision paralysis.

If you decide to do emulation and have never attempted it before, start small. People get discouraged when they can’t get PS2/3 or Wii U games going when they’d also be pretty content playing an SNES Mario, GBA Pokémon or a Genesis game.
Citra is the 3DS emulator and doesn’t require bios files.
The bios files you provided are for the DS emulator and they go directly in Emulation/bios
Someone suggested 10k bitrate and that’s worked well for me and my internet.
Go on r/SBCgaming and you’ll find lots of folks who buy handhelds they never end up using because they want the cool new gadget. That’s just how some people are with tech. They collect it rather than use it.
One thing to try is to change the Proton compatibility layer.
When you have the game page open, click the gear icon, then properties, then compatibility, then ‘force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool’, then try one of the other ones. Usually Proton Experimental works.
Sucks that it doesn’t work out of the box for you like it has for others.
