OP, listen to the others. S23 it is. I have the + my boyfriend the smaller version. Both are great. Great battery life, camera will be a big upgrade, both are excellent phones.
Why? It’s the most recent one and while you or your bf probably won’t care, there is a technical reason why it lasts so long: it has a good processor. Depending on where are you from, models such as S21 or S23 might also have a good chip but save yourself the hassle and get a S23 :)
Also, if you get it for him maybe the app CameraRaw from the Galaxy Store is something for him. It’s an official Samsung app and gives you high control about lots of things in the camera.
Its good that the big players are adopting standards.
On the other hand im not in the US so personally it wont affect me at all and i dont care for it
