unless you’re willing to replace steam os with windows (you shouldnt to be honest, its the magic of the steam deck), its not a good a desktop.
reading through your other replies, either request a laptop/desktop from your work, they should be the ones providing you your work machine both from a security and business standpoint. If for whatever reason you cant get a computer from work, get a used laptop instead and a cheaper steam deck
I have, unless its monitor sized or bigger, oled isnt that big of a deal for me. I’m usually playing my steam deck in my car while riding the ferry or after lunch in the break room at work, I’m not in the mind space to be immersed, in fact I’m fighting against being immersed since I’ve got somewhere else to be often times
I do have to agree, that has to be my favorite thing about oled, infinite brightness levels with filters and such
now thats worth it, I’m getting about 2 hours tops with cyberpunk, so an extra hour plus
I dont care for it much, its good, I get it but the bigger battery is much more important to me

you dont know when or if the steam deck 2 will come out
if youre fine with the uncertainty, then wait but then you’ll question if the steam deck 3 is worth waiting or not…
if you can wait, yes, 20-30% better battery on its own should be worth it
you do realize ign is like many different writers and each article is written mostly individually, bar the editor in chief or whatever their print approval protocol taking the final look
its not much more different than reddit users giving its opinion on things
