  • I’m personally very glad they moved away from the headphone jack and never looked back. The water-resistant qualities and — more importantly — the streamlined look are a lot more important to me as a user. I find myself only ever needing to use old school headphones with a jack maybe once or twice a year when I’m on a flight long enough that my AirPods die, and then I just take that as a sign to take a break.

    Although, the pros to the removal of the jack are passive, it’s not something you actively utilize (it’s water-resistance and look). I think it’s easy to overlook that while focusing on the active utility you lose from the absence of the jack.

    Anyway, can’t believe it’s almost 2024 and I’m debating the headphone jack thing. Glad it’s gone for looks alone. Obviously your mileage may vary.
