I’m still getting used to the new slide-down menu layout. Not the biggest fan since I’ve been used to it since 2020 when I got my S10+, but whatever. I’ll adjust. Not a deal breaker for me.

I think what’s more annoying is that scanning QR codes seems to take a bit longer now and have to keep the camera much more still. There’s no immediate feedback if it did scan other than the tiniest pop-up (used to vibrate stronger when it did scan and the link was easier to click). Under the old OneUI, it was almost too good at scanning QR codes as it would pick up the tiniest and blurry QR code even if I didn’t intend on scanning it, but this seemed like an overcorrection. But again, something I’ll just have to adjust to.

  • How old is your Apple credit card in relation to the age of your credit? Assuming you don’t have that big of a limit and if it’s young compared to your average credit, closing that card, if you were to switch, would not hurt your credit score that much. If it is one of your older cards and/or you have a large limit on it, I would see if there’s a way to manage it through your Mac or iPad if you want to switch, as you would not want to close that line of credit and hurt your credit score.

Every other Apple product you have will still work with Android/Samsung, but it won’t be as seamless with some features not working (similar to how some Samsung products don’t work as well with iPhones), and you’ll have to find a workaround for AirDrop.

  • I had an S10+ from March 2020 until March of this year when my S23U arrived. I would have kept it for another year or 2, but I upgraded because Google Fi had an insanely good deal for the S23Us and my nephew wanted his first smartphone as he was about to start high school. I figured it was better (and cheaper) to give him my S10+, which was still performing well, instead of a cheaper phone.

It had slowed down a bit, but it was still performing better at the 3-year mark (really 4 years when you consider it came out in March 2019) than my previous phones were at the 3-year mark. My S10+ was taking really good pictures as well, and I’ve printed a few of them out.

  • I would start using Bluetooth headphones now. That’s what I did when I had my S10+, as it was my transition phone between wired and wireless. My previous phones didn’t have great BT connectivity so I was hesitant to make the switch. The S10+ allowed me to keep using the 3.5 mm jack, but its BT reliability made it easier for me to adopt Bluetooth. When I got my S23U this year, I had already stopped using the 3.5mm jack on my S10+.

Bluetooth connectivity has certainly gotten better over the last 5 years, and I only run into issues if the device itself is really cheap. I would also assume it would be easier to run with BT earbuds/headphones as well compared to wired ones, especially since you don’t have to worry about ports/wires being damaged.
