Max frame rate will be game dependent. Plenty of old 2GHz processors can do 144 on old games, and plenty of 4GHz processors can’t do 100 hz in some demanding new games.

Why is it a bad idea? It’s likely chips that can’t make the 5800x3D specs. So instead of selling them at 5600x3D prices/specs, they can introduce the 5700x3D which has a higher price.

Sounds like a good plan. The 5700x3D may be a better value as the highest end processor for a socket tends to be oddly expensive.

I don’t think they can make it work in their CPU landscape.

Not that they can’t physically make it, it’s that the power budget restrictions would make it a side grade.
