Especially when the EU forces everyone to remove software locks and make parts reasonably available.
At that point why would I want something that’s almost flagship price but performs like an iPhone 7?

I keep mine around as a backup. So easy to flash your last backup onto it and use it between phones, if you lose or break your current one.
Idk. Seems good. It’s like a very aggressive version of night shift. You can dial it in to whatever intensity you like.
I turn it on 30 mins or an hour before bed. Triple back tap. Try it out for yourself. You could use yellow or another colour. Make it basically full red or only a little. Totally up to you.
Yes. I use mine for a very intense red filter that I use at night.
Not interested until you show me the watts
VRR is a game changer for me now personally.
Got so tired of juggling settings to try and hit 40 fps or whatever and then capping the screen refresh and even then it isn’t perfect. If you drop a few frames it’s very jarring and if you set your fps a bit higher, say 42-43 fps and cap screen at 40 to make it more consistent, you’re wasting power.
With VRR I just play the game. Feels a bit slow? Turn down a few settings. Continue playing game. It’s fantastic. I won’t buy another handheld without it.
You know that steam big picture exists? Different stores is a feature, not a bug. You literally can’t play those games, lmao. I have to click a different button.
Sleep wake is fine. You’re mistaken.
No input mishandling. Do you guys think we didn’t play PC games on windows before the deck existed? Lmao.
And a lesson for me the other way!
I listened to takes like yours and just assumed windows would be trash on handheld. I still see a lot of people parroting this false narrative without having first hand experience.
I’m super happy with my Ally. No desire at all to go back to a Deck.
I’m a PC gamer though. I know what I’m doing. I understand a lot of deck buyers are console gamers who need a more “guided” experience shall I say 😂
And that’s totally fine. Both are fine consoles. Just for different audiences.
I won’t be going back to Linux in a hurry though. So glad things “just work” now that I’m back on windows.
If you have a limited budget, you should be comparing 64GB refurb + buy your own SSD vs the OLED.
That’s going to be way cheaper.
Ultimately it’s a question you have to answer yourself. I’d really push you to go for the OLED. It would be worth 200 USD to me I think but I’m doing okay and could afford to splurge that without real issues.
I don’t really like the sticks that much on the Deck, so I would want the upgraded ones. You’re getting the bigger battery. More efficient chip. Fantastic screen.
I think it’s super worth, but if your budget is shoestring… maybe not. It’s for you to decide.
Let’s say you get 3 years+ out of it. Is it worth $6/month for the newer console? Obviously yes for me.
I think % is more important to report than absolute figures. 4 fps is huge at 30 fps.
I think digital foundry were reporting a 3-5% increase or something like that. Definitely a nice little bump but nothing crazy.
It’s very easy to get Spotify for free. Just saying. Allegedly. I wouldn’t know myself of course.
