The prices of these are dropping pretty regularly. I believe there was an AW3423DW for less than $800 just yesterday.
In general though, the technology they’re using for these panels are constantly improving. The OLED panels of today are much better than the OLED panels of 5 years ago, whereas LCD panel technology has mostly plateaued (can’t think of any exciting new improvements here).
