I never thought I’d see this day. I thought we’d get aliens on the White House lawn before Apple ever caved.

I hope it works seamlessly but, more importantly, will the bubbles all be blue once RCS is added? Will we be able to turn off read receipts and typing indicators?

    okay but in all seriousness what is RCS. it’s supposedly enabled on my google messages app and it says my carrier supports it as well. does that mean im not getting charged per message anymore?

      RCS

      Think of it as a chat platform like iMessage, WhatsApp, etc (meaning it works via data), but is meant to replace SMS/MMS at the carrier level.

      Google’s been pushing it really hard since 2019 to be the default chat platform on Android, and Apple just announced they’ll be adding it to iPhones next year.

          In theory, they shouldn’t since RCS really isn’t any different then a WhatsApp (or any other data based messaging service), but I just don’t know.
