Hello everyone,
I’m wondering is it worth to pick up 13900F over 14700KF?
I am able to buy a new 13900F a bit cheaper than 14700KF.
How do two of those compare? Also, regarding DDR4 RAM OC, how do non K skus handle RAM overclock? Will I be able to increase RAM voltage?
Thank you for all useful info.
The 13900f is going to smoke the 14700kf. Even though it’s an older model, you may as well be comparing the 14900k to the 14700kf and the same with the 13th gen variants as there wasn’t much change between the 2 generations.
If you want memory tuning options especially on DDR4 where you might need 1.3v to hit high speeds on gear1, buy the 14700KF for VCCSA adjustment. It also has a higher all-core turbo 5.5GHz vs 5.2GHz.
13900F - 8/16 + 16e = 24core / 32threads with max boost of 5.6GHz
14700KF - 8/16 + 12e = 20core / 28theads with max boost of 5.6GHz
Stock for stock they will perform similar in games that utilize p cores, only difference is e cores and if you will need the extra core/threads for multitasking/rendering/3d programs/encoding etc… Outside of GPU.
When it comes to ram performance with memory you may have issues running XMP with non-K chips as if it runs at a high frequency or faster timings it may require more voltage and the non-K are pretty much locked down. The bandwidth with ram can easily make up performance and better overall imo.
I personally prefer K chips and the 14700K(F) is a good balance. I’ve had non-K chips and they refused to play well with DDR5 above specs and the voltages for memory tweaking were locked down. Overall though if you plan to run stock and don’t care about ram then non-K are decent.
