Some Apps’ data and passwords don’t get transferred when you change iPhones.

Google Authenticator and Signal are among two that I found needed QR codes to transfer directly between the phones.

What are some Apps you needed to manually transfer?

Has anyone made a list or found a Wiki that would be helpful to people changing phones?

Google Authenticator needs just signing in again to your Google account and it restores everything, if you have logged in to the same account on your old device as well.

Microsoft Authenticator can do sync but i have found it highly unreliable and it cannot transfer if you are moving from an Android device to iPhone. It uses iCloud to backup on iPhones and Google Drive (on Android) without giving an option to export anything. One more bad design by Microsoft, typical.

This happened with iSafe Pro. I had thousands of pictures and journal entries stored. It was never an issue to transfer in the past.

Does anyone know if there’s a fix? Is this data still in the cloud backup?

I’m not sure I understand what good it does to see a QR code on your screen (vs. pointing camera at code that takes you to the sale site). How do you use a code from your phone when you don’t have anything to scan?

The app (google Authenticator) uses it to verify your device. You can use the saved image to authorise your new device through the app.

I know this has not much to do with the post but when transferring over make sure your iMessages among other iCloud data are synced to the proper email before transferring over. When I got my new phone last month my phone didn’t tell me iMessage wasn’t synced till it was already wiping it and by then it was too late. So when my phone “fully” transferred everything over I had about 2 weeks of messages saved and everything else was gone. Luckily I backed my phone up the day before on my computer just in case something liked that happened.
