I’m currently using an iPhone 14 Plus, thinking if I should get a Samsung next time. I like iOS, but I keep reading people saying that one ui has way more features compared to iOS. I’m curious as to what these features are. I know some cool one ui feautes that are not on iOS: split-screen/pip multitasking, dex (Don’t care about this one tbh), object eraser in gallery, but I’m curious to learn more about one ui features. Could you describe some?

    I don’t see Dex mentioned

Plug your phone to a TV/monitor/touchscreen monitor/PC and get a desktop environment

    Wireless Dex is available too

Modes & Routines is a great feature on one ui. You can automate tasks and use it to get the most from your phone.

For example, I have a routine set to start if I charge my phone after 23:00, fast charging turns off, battery protect limits the maximum charge to 85%, at 06:30 the routine turns off and the battery charges up to 100% before I wake.

Another routine for reading apps, extends the screen on time from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, when apps like news, reddit, Web browser are in use.

I also have a routine for night time. At 23:00 the ringer automatically silences and turns off vibration, also eye comfort shield turns on.

The feature will allow you to automate a lot of the phone’s features.

    1. double click on the “power” button to launch the camera app without even unlocking the screen
    2. swipe across the screen to screenshot.
    3. NFC cards - If you’re taking public transport, you don’t need to open the app, just tap and use. It’s also a lot faster to access mobile payments. Apple users typically hold up the payment line in my country.
    4. you can use your huge phones with one hand, because the UI shifted most of the interactive things to the bottom of the screen.
    5. install an app like swiftly switch, and you can launch/change to any app anywhere any time without opening the app drawer
    6. 100% customisable keyboard. You can rearrange all the letters, leave out letters, add symbols, pictograms, add in words and phrases to the keys, etc. Change key height, width, spacing, etc.
    7. you can change your browser address bar from the top to the bottom
    8. you can pull the notification shade down from the bottom of the screen
    9. you can pin “lock” the app and pass the phone to someone else. They can use the app, but they won’t be able to exit the app, go to your desktop, or do anything else unless they can unlock your phone.
    10. Change the density of your app drawer
    11. Change the system font
    12. Display a percentage value on your battery icon
    13. Edit and only show the quick setting buttons that you want on the notification panel
    14. the back button. pressing on the back button is a lot faster than swiping
    15. the home button. it’s faster than swiping or the onscreen button.

That’s all i can think off off my head.

I’ve always opened up the Samsung Wallet app and moved to the card page to use it, but I wasn’t aware you could use it without doing that. I’ll have to try that next time.

Clipboard. Dunno if this has been changed but when I was using iPhone 13 I was so frustrated that it doesn’t have a clipboard.

Calculator. Has the capability to convert measurements and turn into a scientific calc.

    Hand gestures to take photos.

One of the coolest is the noteboard feature on the keyboard it keeps track of what you copied up to certain point. And you can save some of your copies as well. For things you copy paste the most. So you dont have to go back and forth between note apps and whatever you on.

Notification history. You get a notification and you swipe it or open it or it’s not there you can go check the notification history and it’ll be there. I use this multiple times a week and it’s a game changer.

And one handed mode. You can adjust the size and the placement and it shows the full screen, not just the top half of it like on iOS

The video editor and gallery app alone is a reason why I’d buy Samsung. Amazing.

    Don’t forget GOOD LOCK

Agree with everyone but the reason I switched is because of the s-pen on the s22 ultra

I am not able to comment if my favourite features are not on IOS, as I don’t have an iPhone. But here are my favourite things that my Samsung galaxy s23 ultra can do:

    • You can tap any object from a photo and create a sticker out of it, it works surprisingly well
    • The always on display customisation is very good and useful. It is simple and does not drain a lot of battery
    • S-pen features such as crop, select text, write on screen and transalte anything
    • I like how bixby vision can find almost anything from a photo and provide details. In general bixby vision is very useful with a lot of things do to with text extraction and translation. I can only assume that a similar thing exists in IOS too.
    • I find very useful that I can watch a video in a pop up window and scroll through a different app at the same time
    • You can close all your open apps with a tap, but you can also chose which ones you want to remain always open. You can now few split screen and pop ups on the recent apps too
    • You can customize the keyboard a lot and even use a 3rd party keyboard.
    • You can customize the colors of the settings and quick panel, you can chose from plenty of options. You can even chose the colors of your wallpaper.
    • You can change the fond and size of the text on the phone
    • You can set up a lot of special functions and set ups using the routines, the phone will perform various tasks automatically at certain times.
    • If you don’t like one ui, you can always install a 3rd party app like nova and get even more customizable options. These are the main ones that come to mind at the moment. I apologise if some of them are already on IOS. I hope this helps. I am sure there are many more things that I can’t think of right now, there are many useful videos on YouTube about one ui 6 features :)

It’s the same one I believe…but the one from good lock is more optimized for Samsung phones so I’d recommend it. (That is if the app you are talking about is from a third party developer)
