I ordered my first Deck the other day! My purchasing decision was all over the place- refreshing the page looking to buy the LE OLED on launch day. As I was about to purchase, I was looking through other options. I saw the remaining stock of 64g LCD Decks, and said to myself, shouldn’t this be good enough? Especially if I can use an SD card to expand storage? I have the original LCD Nintendo Switch, and have never felt the need to upgrade to the OLED.

My first real adventure into ‘PC Gaming’, so I decided to save several hundred dollars and go for the original LCD model!

I’m having a bit of regret- did I make a bad decision?

No you are fine! Enjoy your purchase. OLED is lovely but tbh if you don’t have anything to compare it to you don’t notice it. And I had an OG deck and the brightness went very high in my opinion

The original Steam Deck is fantastic. 1TB Micro SD cards are easy to come by and fitting a new SSD is also very easy if you decide to go that route. I’d say don’t sweat it and just enjoy it when it arrives!

Kinda of, the OLED is improved in pretty much every way. But if saving the money is worth it to you (factoring in you will definitely need to upgrade the SSD to at least 256GB to accommodate shaders, and then also purchase an SD card) then that’s all that matters

I agree- I watched many of the YT reviews and previews and it looks fantastic. I’m just not sure I NEED the latest and greatest.

It’s a good note about the shaders, I had no clue and that will be a bummer

I think you did the right decision since it sounds like you are not heavily invested in steam and PC gaming. This might be a good unit to try it out and if you like it and need more you can get the OLED or SD2 later on

I used my 64GB for a while before upgrading the SSD. It worked fine with strategic management of SD cards.
