I like Windows and wired headphones so OLED is not my cup of tea at the moment.

HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•First impressions after a day of being a Deck-userEnglish1·2 years agoSteam OS is the gateway to Linux.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•This is my updated emulation tutorial for the Steam Deck OLED, but it can, of course, be used with the original Steam Deck as well. I also show you a fix for Steam Decks not detecting USB drives!English1·2 years agoI just boot Batocera off an SD card. I even have it configured to load its files from a folder on the SSD.
You can set up dual boot with another Linux distro. Sound requires a patch on other distros but it is easy to do.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Am I wrong for purchasing the 64g LCD Steam Deck?English1·2 years agoI used my 64GB for a while before upgrading the SSD. It worked fine with strategic management of SD cards.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Last gaming PC I had was Intel Pentium IIIEnglish1·2 years agoNot impossible if you install Windows on the Deck. WindeckOS is the best way to do that and it is still a pain and requires some tech knowledge.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Unpopular Opinion (Steam Deck OLED is not worth it for most people)English1·2 years agoAnother issue is the fact that the new Deck hasn’t been tested by real world consumers yet. There very well could be bugs that make the experience worse than the original model in the long run. I know some reviewers have already noted that the 512GB OLED has the etched glass that causes a back-light halo that makes it look similar to the LCD models. Purchasing and upgrading the 512GB OLED to 1TB is a significant addition to the price. Also, OLED often times has worse PWM flicker than LCD which I am very sensitive to. Nevermind the fact that those of us with the skills can upgrade an OG LCD to the new 1200p DeckHD screen for less than the price difference of an OELD model ($100 and likely to drop soon).

HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Steam deck OLED etched glass model, yay or nay?English1·2 years agoThe etched OLED looks as bad as the old LCD screen.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Price Matching is available if you bought your Steam Deck recentlyEnglish1·2 years agoPick up a 256GB SSD cheap and upgrade it. It is pretty easy.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Price Matching is available if you bought your Steam Deck recentlyEnglish1·2 years agoI am in the same boat, mine doesnt even arrive until Monday. It is getting turned right back around for a refund.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Price Matching is available if you bought your Steam Deck recentlyEnglish1·2 years agoThey assured everyone there was no new deck on the horizon then pulled this crap. This will surely lose them some customers.
HurricaneFloyd@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•Price Matching is available if you bought your Steam Deck recentlyEnglish1·2 years agoMine is still in shipping. I would keep it if they refunded the price difference, not going for the entire batch of eggs in the non-refundable Steam wallet option. Back mine will go as soon as it gets here Monday.
Might as well rename this sub to ‘OLED Cult’ by now.
