So I started Disco Elysium tonight after the raving reviews on Reddit. It plays fine on the deck as it’s not graphics intensive but IMO it’s kinda weird.

Is it one of those games it takes time to gf into? I played for an hour.

Second, how important is it to look at every interactable?

Any gameplay tips if I keep going?

It’s not hard to beat, as it’s a story driven experience. Part of what the game makes fun is a key point is experiencing the failed checks and roll with it. As most of the time you can still complete the objectives

Quite frankly, if that’s something that sounds uninteresting to you, I don’t see what’s supposed to be this game’s appeal to you.

No, it absolutely is not needed, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t try to get as much info about the world as you can, it’s one of the stars of the show.

Yes, it’s a slow game, the main plot takes more than 20 hrs to finish and with side quests you get into 30-40hrs range, according to https://howlongtobeat.com/game/57335 That’s a lot, considering the gameplay area is not very large compared to typical RPG’s.

And it’s mostly talking to NPC’s. Or to yourself.

It’s more like a book (and a good one), but it took me several hours of gameplay before I started to figure out the basics, characters and enjoy it more.

Best advice you’re going to get is don’t try to play this game perfectly. If you mess something up or fail something, let it ride. Some of the best elements of the game happen when you screw up.

Just buckle in and enjoy the ride. One of my favorite games of all time.

I personally loved it but if you’re not invested in the story and the writing and atmosphere it creates then it could be not for you.

I felt they have created a very weird and incredible world that I just love being in and wandering about exploring and speaking to the weirdest characters I can remember coming across. I would say give it a bit longer but I can’t remember what the refund cut off point is. 90 minutes??

Disco’s easily in my top 5 games ever played. Never felt like a slow burner to me but I think it just came at the right time in my life having completely burned myself out on more involved games (shooters, RPGs, platformers etc). I needed something more chill to play with a ton of story to it, which I obsessed over from beginning to end. So based on all that I can’t see how you’d NOT want to click on every interactable! You never know what dialogue will pop up.

But yeah it won’t be for everybody, and it sounds to me like it may not be for you. How dare you! /s ;)

It’s great if you like reading books, the writing is phenomenal, but if you have Goopy Goblin Gamer Brain™ then the sheer amount of dialogue might become more of a chore and you’ll just get bored.
