I want the new steam deck oles that cost 649$ but it has a anti glare on it and I heard and saw that it makes the graphics look worse so is there a way to take it off without damaging it or is it impossible. I want the 649$ because it has 1T and a bunch of other stuff

I personally don’t think with the LCD one it was nearly as bad as what others said, but it also benefits me a lot more to have it than to not. its a mild color change more than anything, and on OLED its likely more noticeable but the thing to note is you’d be far better off changing the SSD out than the display. However, I think the anti glare itself is pretty worthwhile, I live in a place where sunlight easily seeps in through the windows and its definitely a noticeable boost over things like my switch or even my laptop

It’s the most overblown and non-existent difference known to man, unless they’re right next to each other you’d never know the difference.

I’ve had both the 64GB and 512GB models with the glossy and matte screen and preferred the glossy one - even with a glossy screen protector on both

Personally I went with the glossy OLED model because of this and I can use the extra money to upgrade the SSD (the screw threads have been changed from plastic to metal so opening should be super easy now)

I went with the 512GB, you can use the $100 towards a 2TB drive (Micron and WD options for ~$140-150). I already have a 2TB WD drive in mine that I’ll swap over. This does require comfort with disassembly, so some YouTube tutorial watching and a basic ifixit kit as well I guess (you want a pry tool and guitar pick tool at the least).

And you can always get a good matte tempered glass screen protector (generally a pair) for like $10-15 (I got the Jsaux, been great on my OG 64GB deck).

The anti glare does not make the “graphics worse” it literally just diffuses bright lights to reduce glare. There will be zero difference unless your playing somewhere with a bright light source

Ask yourself sincerely if you can tell the difference. And if the answer is “yes I can tell” then your answer will also coincidentally be that it doesn’t matter almost at all. If you play outside though or under any other bright lighting conditions then get the matte. Huge reflections are far worse than a teensy weensy drop in saturation.
