Title.

I would absolutely pick up the new carry case with removable liner to reduce bulk in my bag, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Valve will keep it as an upsell perk for the 1tb model.

Just buy a 3rd party slim case.

I just 3D printed a snap-on front shield. Protects the screen and the joysticks which unless you’re carrying rocks alongside in your bag, is enough protection and basically results in zero extra bulk

Wait, it doesn’t come with the 512 OLED? I was going to upgrade to that model and the case was something I was super interested in. Bummer

There is probably going to be a second hand market for the new cases. The stock case just doesn’t have a ton of functionality to it.

So many people upgrade to either a protective case w/ hard shell type of thing, or a carry case that fits accessories, or a sling bag. The old stock case is either going to be sold or end up just laying around.

So just wait a lil, and check eBay or your local online classifieds section in craig’s list or kijiji, FB marketplace, etc.

Hell, even if you posted an ad yourself saying you’d buy it for $20-30 or something those places, someone would probably respond and sell it to you.

Yeah, tbf, I’m not interested in the new case and would buy a replacement. So there’ll probably be plenty of these things floating around.

I’d suggest grabbing a case that comes with a snap on shell to protect the front for travelling. A lot less space taken up and the deck is reasonably protected. There’s a fairly cheap one I use and the only complaint I have is that it covers the charging port too.

As a reference point: The DBrand Killswitch with Travel Cover. Pricey, you can get cheaper alternatives.
