Just built a new gaming pc. Decided to go AMD for the insane value. Working on my wire management still.
Haven’t built a pc since before 2020 so I decided to just get everything new for this one. Decided to go with
7800xt for the gpu 7600x for the cpu Msi pro b650m-a motherboard 2tb nvme
It’s a 1440p beast, highly recommended, 0 driver issues so far
Honestly, I’m stuck between rtx 4070 and 7800xt and I can’t decide. Have you ever looked at the nvidia side while buying 7800xt? If you have looked, can you tell us what were the reasons and reasons why you used your preference in favour of 7800xt?
The only noticeable difference today is DLSS vs no DLSS. If you would use DLSS in the games you play, then go with the 4070. DLSS is just significantly better than FSR, at least at resolutions lower than 4k.
Also the 4070 has slightly better RT, but I don’t think most people care much about that.
In the future the 16GB VRAM of the 7800 XT might become an advantage, though the difference between 12 and 16 is not huge. And the 7800 XT is like 3-5% faster. Due to the higher memory bandwidth it will probably also age a little better.
So if you think you won’t use DLSS, definitely go with the 7800 XT.
This is assuming they are priced as they are right now (4070 is ~520 and 7800 XT is ~500). If the 4070 costs 15+% more money, just get the 7800 XT. Or spend a little more and go with the 7900 XT on sale (I’ve seen it go for $700, might go even lower on BF).
I’ve been with Nvidia for the last few years.
Well I cared more about raw performance than raytracing. And I figured if I wasnt using Ray tracing or DLSS then 7800xt was a better deal.
I also think Amd’s FSR s actually pretty good, but mostly not needed since the 7800xt has been so good so far.
If you’re going to be using Ray tracing and DLSS then get the 4070 for sure.
But if you’re not then the 7800xt is fantastic so far.
