Please r/explainlikeinfive hahaI but recently got a used steam deck and it supposedly came with a 256gb sd card (i know some storage is lost due to formatting) but im more interested in tej fact that it has 44gb of updates? Is that normal and is there a way to get rid or old junk thats not needed anymore? I dont wanna delete something thats needed

Your storage menu says updates? Those are usually games that are in the process of downloading - the Deck reserves however much storage the game wants while it downloads so you don’t end up running out of room halfway through downloads.
There shouldn’t be 40gb of SteamOS updates, SteamOS itself in its entirety is like half that tops.
