I posted this on Apple subreddit but I also wanted some thoughts from Samsung users maybe you guys can give me more insight to switch over since I casually use my android and I been wanting to get a Z Fold:
“Hello fellow Apple users. This is a long post but I wanted some Insight.
So I been an Apple user for a long while and I do prefer Apple but I used and had both Samsung and Apple phones (iPhone 12 ProMax, Samsung s22 Ultra) I used the Samsung as a backup phone when my phone died I would swamp SIM cards and run the android. Or if I felt like I want to run android I would switch over.
That being said though I’m heavy into Apple ecosystem. iPad, MacBook, watch, AirPods and max, Apple credit card. The credit card is one the main reasons why I stay with Apple. I use it mainly for bills and I have the savings account with Apple. I just feel overtime the Apple Card is losing its “features” that made the Apple Card amazing. Like 0% APR for financing an Unlocked Sim IPhone. Now you have to use the 3 big carriers in order to do it. While I use other cell service like visible or spectrum it’s kinda frustrating that I can’t use a feature of the card anymore, unless I am part of those 3 carriers.
I have other platforms that can replace the things I use like Spotify and my bank offers 4% savings account. Other apps like drafts, a pdf editor, a note taking app notability, are some of the apps I use that are only on Apple. Then there is the formatting that I think app developers focus on IOS that I think are better. Or simple stuff like some apps like Snapchat having dark mode vs android doesn’t.
I might be rambling and losing focus here but I was just wondering if you guys felt the same and are thinking of leaving the platform? Despite I prefer Apple os, I apparently type better on iPhone vs android, in the ecosystem that I like and I think is better, and the Apple Card is a nice card but considering the changes in starting to feel like it’s not all that great anymore. I’m just thinking of going to android whether it be Samsung or OnePlus. Any thoughts?”
@DARKPYRO58 - You’d mentioned some things about the messaging on android (sms) and I’d highly recommend the Textra app - I’ve used it for at least 5 years or more and it’s SO much better than the standard android messaging (from either Google or Samsung). Totally worth it to buy the Pro ver - but you can check it out with free version first. And the dev is top-notch - great responsive support.
I saw a quick YouTube video on it. It’s actually something I would enjoy using. I only wonder if it will work the same as other messaging apps once iPhone goes to RCS. Most of my friends and family uses iPhone so I wonder when using Textra it will work like normal IMessage just with the green bubble. In assuming it would work. But thanks for this recommendation I definitely see myself buying this app to use! Any other recommendations is appreciated!
